Sudan is considered one of the largest agricultural countries in Africa, with approximately 85% of the population engaged in agriculture-related activities. The total agricultural land area in Sudan is estimated at 33 million hectares, representing about 18% of the country’s total area. Of this, the vast majority—approximately 31.4 million hectares (95%)—is rain-fed, while only 5% (around 1.6 million hectares) is irrigated.

Recognizing the immense potential of the agricultural sector, Zwan Development has placed agriculture at the heart of its operations. We actively cultivate over 2,000 feddans in Western Sudan, focusing on key crops such as sesame, groundnut, and sorghum, which are well-suited to the region’s climate and soil.

In addition, Zwan cultivates cotton and sorghum in the Blue Nile State. Cotton, in particular, has become a crop of strategic importance due to its high economic value, and our company is currently expanding the cultivation area dedicated to cotton to meet both local and international demand.

Zwan leverages its export capabilities to deliver high-quality agricultural products—especially sesame seeds and cotton—to international markets including Egypt and Turkey. Our commitment to quality and timely delivery has earned us a trusted reputation among our export partners.

Moreover, Zwan collaborates with several leading seed companies in India and Egypt, importing high-yield hybrid seeds for various crops such as cotton, soybean, and corn. We operate under an official license from the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture, which allows us to import and distribute certified seeds to local farmers, contributing to the enhancement of agricultural productivity and sustainability in the country.
